Re: 100 POUNDS!!!!!

Congratulations on such a great accomplishment! Bet you feel like a
million bucks...I know I did! That feeling alone makes it easier,
doesn't it? It still gets a little rough from time to time, but the
positives DEFINITELY outweigh those nasty little negatives! Keep up
the good work. TJ

Hi Candy, My name is Margaret and I had WLS June 24,2003 and have loat 112lbs.
I am 55 and had been overweight since age 11 and had tried all the fad diets
plus diet pills etc. Only you can decide if this surgery is for you. Find out
all you can about the surgery and if you decide to go forward make sure and find
a doctor who has performed many of these surgeries. Good luck in your quest for
knowledge. If I can be of any help please contact me. Hugs, Margaret in Vegas
Candy <mimimarquez1982@...
I am 22, and I weigh 270
lbs. I have been overweight since I was 8 years old. This is what
I'm considering. I have a daughter who is almost 1, and i can't keep
up with her. Its so hard and I feel so stuck. Is this surgery as
great as it seems? I have tried every diet ever, or at least it
seems that way. I have no energy, and I look in the mirror, and
don't like what I see, for the most part.
If you could give me advice, and opinios, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks

100 POUNDS!!!!!

2008-04-28 23:13:13

I just am bursting to tell everyone. I have lost my first 100
pounds. I feel GREAT. I am actually being called skinny. I have
NEVER heard these words directed at me in my ENTIRE life. It feels
kind of weird, but I still like it. I started at 339 and am now at
239. My surgery was May 26th, 2004. I am about 3 1/2 months out. If
someone would have told me I would be wearing size 20's and 1 and 2
X's, 3 months ago, I would have laughed. It feels great to be a
LOSER. Well I just had to share with my extended family. Hope all is
well with everyone and hope all goes well for the upcoming
surgeries. Take care.

worked for me!!! For all of you who know me complaining..haha.. I
have been stuck at a 50 pounds loss for three weeks. I decided to
try this over the weekend. I did protein shakes three times a day, a
ton of water, and sugarfree pudding for a little snack at night. I
lost 7 pounds as of this morning!! I am now down to 262!! I feel so
great. 7 more pounds and I will be where I was when I married my
hubby 8 years ago!!! It was very hard too considering we had friends
over on Saturday and BBQ on the grill. Those hot dogs looked so good

true to it and I have been rewarded. Just thought I would share!!

Family Visit - Insurance Questions?

2008-04-22 14:25:38

My family came to visit this past weeekend. It was fun and wierd.
I have not seen any of them since my surgery about 8 weeks ago and I
have lost almsot 50 lbs. I have noticed a small change in my self,
but they were freaking out about how small I was. It was nice to
get the compliments, but again, I don't take the compliments like I
should yet. We went swimming while they were here at this water
park type place and that was acutally fun. I am down to 212 from
almost 260 and what a relief it was to put on my bathing suit and
not feel "perfect" but not feel ashamed either. I am about 5'10
(almsot 5'11") so 212 is about a size 14/16 down from a snug size
22. My family remains supportive of the surgery and I think I have
talked my mom into the surgery! I come from "big people". She has
the whole TYpe 2 Diabetes, etc. and i know this surgery would help
her. Anyone out there ever worked with Educator's Mutual Insurance
for the surgery? I told her she has ALOT of comorbidity factors so
she should be able to have the surgery no problem with them footing
the bill, but she isn't so sure? Any help in fighting insurance
companies I can offer to her would be great. My insurance company
approved me relatively easily so I am not really sure of
the "fighting" protocol! haha! Thanks in advance!

Suggestions please

2008-04-21 23:26:01

I am having a major problem here.
My surgery was June 8th and without any complications. I've lost 85 pounds
so far.
I have been having pains in the stomach and aching ribs in the middle of the
day for the past two weeks. Most afternoons I feel as though I crawl home
and to bed until I feel better. I was getting to the point of calling the
doctor. However, I feel like I know what is happening.
As a teacher for the past four weeks I have only 10 minutes of lunch and
usually I am unable to sit even for those ten minutes. I'm seriously
beginning to think this is indigestion and gas.
I started taking my antacid in the middle of the day instead of night. That
change has helped some. But today (Labor Day) I had a slow lunch...30
minutes and now an hour later, no pain.
So...I can't change my schedule. I have a hard enough time drinking my
fluids during the day. I am on a steady pace between 6:00 am til 2:30 pm.
Any thoughts are suggestions?
Susan

Hi Kim,
There are always people out there that don't have a clue! I think you came up
with a good response... does it usually stop there? I think I would say "I'm
fine thanks and how are you? I am sure some people are asking because they are
really interested and supportive of you, but I am sure there are some that are
just busy bodies.
I am pre-op and have told only my husband, parents and my immediate boss and the
office manager about what I am doing... Anyway, I just don't know which way I
feel like going with this... I am usually someone who feels compelled to answer
any question asked of me, but I really want to do what I feel is right for me on
such an important issue.

the surgery (7 weeks ago), I am just tired of rude people walking up
to me and saying "so, how much weight have you lost?" No "hi, how
are you" or anything else, just straight to the "how much" question.
I have begun to reply "quite a bit thankyou" I am proud of what I
have done and how I am doing and I have nothing to hide, I just feel
funny having people I hardly know asking me personal questions. I
mean, if they were questions about the surgery, because they or
someone they knew wanted to have the surgery I wouldn't mind, but the
how much question is getting to me. Does anyone else out there feel
the same way, or am I being to easily offended? Hope everyone is

Alice Congratulations on your WLS and not having a leak!! Glad you are home and
feeling better. Keeping you in my prayers for a speedy recovery. Congratulations
on the weight lose. Talk to you soon. Margaret in Vegas
Alice Hardesty <hardesty@...
My story..... I flew to San Diego on 8-23 and on 8-24 did all my pre ops. 8-25
was bowel prep and 8-26 I was at the hospital at 4:30AM for surgery. Surgery
went well and I was later released to my room. I don`t remember anything between
there. I was out of it most of the day but they did get me up to walk that
evening around 10:00PM. 8-27 I awoke a little more with it and was looking
forward to the leak test that would then allow me to have ice chips, broth and
Jell-O if I had no leak problems. To this point my most pain and discomfort was
an extremely throbbing left shoulder from what was expected was a gas pain and
the worst cotton mouth from not drinking that I ever had in my life. I was taken
down for the leak test and immediately became suspicious when the tech took
about 8-10 different shots
and would not say a thing to me. Then back to my room and the Doctor who was
filling in for my Doctor came in and said I had a leak and still nothing by
mouth until they solved it. After consultations they decided to keep me there an
extra day or two and feed me through my feeding tube and do another leak test on
8-31. That went on through 8-28, 8-29 and then 8-30 my surgeon came in and
released me to go back to the hotel with an appointment the next day for the
second leak test. My friend Terry sprung me from the hospital and we went to the
room. I prayed and asked for all the prayers that I could get to make Tuesday`s
leak test good. 8-31 We went to a seminar at the Doctor`s office and then on to
the second leak test. My surgeon was to meet me there to look at it. I prayed as
they were doing it and when they were done the gal looked at it and said it did
not change one bit from last time. I almost went into tears. My surgeon came
along and went to look at it and then came back out
and said that it did look the same as last time but she was not convinced it
was a leak. She said if I lived there in San Diego she would start letting me
drink and just keep a very close eye on me but as I had to came back here to
Alaska there was only one way to tell for sure and that was with a CatScan and
they could do it right then. I ran into the room and had that done and waited
back outside for results. She came out shortly and said there was no leak, so
there never had been one. I was ECSTATIC!!! She said lets go up to the 6th floor
and get that drainage tube out of you and get you some water. I was so HAPPY!!!
She moved me right on to soft foods as I had already moved through the clear
liquids when I was taking nothing. We went back to the room and I had broth and
later Jell-O that day so I did not rush it even though I could have. 09-01 Ate
cottage cheese for breakfast and that did well. Then we messed around and
shopped most of the day. Later I ate cottage cheese with tuna mixed in it. That
was good and also did well. 09-02 Went for post op appointment, got the feeding
tube taken out and was given a clear bill of health and released to come home on
9-03 and go to work on 09-07. I was feeling great. 09-03 Spent most of the day
flying home. A little tiring but I felt great for the most part. 09-05 Well here
I am posting to all of you. Before surgery I had lost 13 pounds, by their scales
in San Diego, from my highest weight here in
Alaska. This morning on my scales here in Alaska, which are the ones I will go
by from now on for consistency, I have now lost 30 total!!!!! That is 13 pre op
and 17 since surgery, 10 days. I am very happy with that. I feel fantastic and
seem to have good energy. I will keep
you all posted on progress.

Alice is back... Sorry kind of long

2008-04-18 14:34:09

My surgeon came
along and went to look at it and then came back out and said that it did look
the same as last time but she was not convinced it was a leak. She said if I
lived there in San Diego she would start letting me drink and just keep a very
close eye on me but as I had to came back here to Alaska there was only one way
to tell for sure and that was with a CatScan and they could do it right then. I
ran into the room and had that done and waited back outside for results. She
came out shortly and said there was no leak, so
there never had been one. I was ECSTATIC!!! She said lets go up to the 6th floor
and get that drainage tube out of you and get you some water. I was so HAPPY!!!

Re: [Gastric_Bypass_Family] Any Puree Ideas?

2008-04-18 03:09:27

When I was at that stage, I ate allot of soups and refried beans. I never
pureed my foods just chewed really well. I could not handle what the food
looked like after I pureed it..

Re: Any Puree Ideas?

2008-04-18 00:50:38

I have one more week on my puree stage and I was given some
suggestions by my doctor.
Canned chicken meat low fat with juice with 1 green onion and teriyaki
sauce - not the thick kind - kikkomans thin sauce. Puree until smooth
Tuna packed in water water with juice, small amount of low fat
mayonnaise and 1 green onion. Pureed until smooth. I live on the west
coast and can get specialty canned smoked albacore from a market right
next to where the fish unload - this has been my favorite.
I used to make a lowcarb chicken paprika and have thought about it
again but haven't tried it. Basically it is chicken, onion braised in
chix broth and paprika and add sour cream at the end. I was thinking
about making it but reduce the chix broth and use a very small amount
of fat free sour cream but haven't tried it yet.

Any Puree Ideas?

2008-04-17 18:50:44

I am one week post op and I start my Puree stage on wed. Does anyone
have any ideas on what foods are best pureed. My stomach turns when I
think about putting chicken in the blender. I will do what I have to
do to get by, but I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas. Thanks

hey there

2008-04-17 15:40:36

Hey everyone. Just wanted to send best wishes to everyone having
surgery this week. You will do fine. Just take it easy and listen to
your body. I am doing the protein train right now. It is my second
day. I feel great but we are getting ready to BBQ with friends and I
am thinking I want some..haha. But I am staying true to this. I had
3 protein shakes yesterday and some s/f pudding. That was it. I am
not hungry at all but even since my rny July6th, I have not had one
hunger pain yet. I know that it will not always be this way so I am
glad that I have it like this now. Hope everyone is staying safe
from the storm. My parents are north of Tampa and are getting hit
now. They have been without power since 11 a.m. their time and have
lost several trees and part of their fence in the back. Thank God it
is weakening so far and it may be over for them by late late
tonight. I wanted to share some protein bar news with you. I have
tried a new bar and I absolutely love it. It is made by SlimWhey and
the cheapest place I have found it is Walmart. It is 68 cents a bar.
The caramel peanut is great and tastes like a babe ruth. THey also
have peanut butter which I did not care for (not enough goo inside)
and a coconut one that I have bought and not tried yet. Each bar has
120 calories, 2 net carbs and 9 grams of protein. Not as much
protein as some but not as many calories either. IT is a really nice
treat I thought and wanted to share with you. Take care everyone and
be safe!!
Tina

Hello All,
i am sure some people are going to think i am crazy for this post,
I went to the clinic this week for my dietician appt and went to see
my dr's nurse and my bloodwork came back and cholesterol ,
triglicerides, glucose were all high(YEA) i know you are thinking
what? but the dr who put in my origonal referral did not do all the
test like this one is and this shows the co-morbidity that i need to
get approved. So i will now be on meds for pre diabetes, but they
will approve the surgery now and i am very excited. So far it is
good for Oct 6th. I hope eveyone is doing well.

Re: Protein Train

2008-04-14 18:48:42

Hi Daisy Faye,
Here is the previous post on the Protein Train that I had posted.
Its only meant to be done for 3 to 4 day's at a time. And the
results I heard about were 4 to 10 lbs lost and their weightloss was
jumpstarted again.
Here it is:
Laurette any others interested in the Protein Train,
This is from another WLS message board....they say this works...
This is what it is...first thing to remember is we all do it a bit
different but for the same reasons... number one is to defeat the
carb monster...aka carb cravings, ... number two is to jump start
stalled out weight loss...also there is some thought that is the
pouch is stretched it will shrink... i dunno if its true or not.
protien diets will cause you to go into ketosis (remember the
optifast diet) you loose fast but its not a really good idea to do
long term, hence 3 days is pretty common as a goal... now this is
what I do
i drink my morning coffee... yes i am a caffiene addict....
then the rest of the day i do nothing but protien shakes water
crystal light or some sugar free flavored water... the first day is
hard but the second day and third day are pretty easy to me... then
on the 4th day i start adding things like a scrambled egg with
cheese still protien but food along with my shakes... then as time
goes on i get back to a semi normal diet i never totally stop my
shakes as i totally believe in them even though my dr does not... i
will keep a daiily post of what i do that day so folks can follow
and see what happens ... i have a girl friend in ohio that is
joining me on this but she never does shakes she does just food...
so i am compairing notes on how we both do...
s interested...
She had written me about it and I copied and pasted it. Hope it
helps. I know I am keeping it for future reference.
Hugs, Linda in AL.

Plateau already??

2008-04-14 17:46:09

Hello everyone!
First let me say how very much this message board has helped me!
I had my lap RNY on 8-6-04 and I lost 30 lbs in the first 16-17
days. I was very pleased but I have not lost one pound since and I
have been wiggling back and forth on the scale 2-3 lbs up, 2-3 lbs
down to be the same weight most of the time. This stall began when
my Dr said I could start "chewing" food again, so once I started
eating my weight loss stopped. I try to eat as well as I can, get
enough protein (I would say around 60 per day) and I am averaging
about 600-800 calories a day. I don't think I could possibly eat
anymore and sometimes I worry I am eating too much, esp when I eat
soft food. I am walking 1-2 miles 3-4 days a week too.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: PATIENCE...TODAY NONE

2008-04-13 23:58:12

You can always go to your doctor's office. After my initial visit
with my surgeon, he told me there was no letter from my pcp,
needless to say my next stop was the pcp office. Remember you pay
their salary and if they are too busy to follow up with a simple
letter you do have the right to remind them. From what I've seen it
is almost a form letter, pcp recommends the procedure, you are
morbidly obese, and have other life threatning illnesses, no big
deal for the doctor to write.

Re: Window of Opportunity

2008-04-13 20:43:54

I've lost 129 lbs and am still in a size 12/14. To have lost 80 lbs
and already be a size 8/10, it seems that you were smaller than,
say, a super obese person at the time of GBS. My Dr. told me that
even though a patient may need to loose 100 lbs, the loss is usually
slower in smaller people.
Also, working out like you are (fantastic!!) is undoubtedly building
muscle, which weighs more than fat. It's more about how you look
and how your clothes feel rather than what the scale says.
You are doing everything right. Keep it up!!! You are an
inspiration.

Window of Opportunity

2008-04-13 12:59:14

Explain the window of opportunity???????? Am I finish with the weight
lose? I am almost 8 months and I have only lost 80 pounds. I say only
because I feel like I have done everything to the T including
excercising 5-6 times a week for an hour and ten minutes. I follow
the eating plan protien first, then 2-3 tablespoons of veggies. I try
to eat between 600-750 calories a day. I haven't eaten sugar, bread,
potatoes, rice, pasta in 8 months. I read the boards daily to look
for information. I am happy to see so many people successful. I read
people losing 80 pounsds in four months(and they do not weight more,
many are around my weight and height). I started at 256, 5ft 2
inches. I am angry, disappointed and mad. I'm happy about the 80
pounds, I wear a size 10 confortable and can wear a tight 8 but I do
not get it, why isn't the weight coming off. Please repond, I need
help!!!

Re: Pre-surgery labs

Hey Dora,
I was really scared just walking into the hospital cause I hadn't
been there before. I had to fill out paperwork to pre-register then
off to do my testing, EKG, Chest xray, labs (blood and pee) then got
to chat with the Anesteisa (I know I murder that one). It was "fun"
needless to say untl I got home then I was muttering under my breath
about having to go back. I was fortunate to bypass the blood gas
testing but know they are gonna catch up with me on Tuesday
morning. Oh yeah...I am first in line at 6am for surgery! Talk
about getting the Surgeon either "fresh" or "still tired"...LOL! It
will be fine Dora, I just tend to work myself up too much cause I
hate needles! I just wish I had a medical doctor to go to about
sleep/nerve pills but had been lucky not to need one before. I also
thought it odd my surgeon couldn't prescribe something but he's not
a medical doctor but a surgeon...LOL!!!

Re: [Gastric_Bypass_Family] fitday

Used to, now I use calorieking.com, all about the same though. I track
food and exercise and I love seeing the calories and everything deduct
from the exercise I do :). I track just about everything I eat or
drink, calories, fat, protein, carbs, fiber. It's great and helps me
stay on track.

I just updated my fitday.com with my food from yesterday and my new
weight. I love the "reports" you can do on fitday showing your
average weightloss over different time periods. Its interesting
looking at how many calories a person burns just doing housework. My
nutrionist said to remember that when counting calories so I think
I'll start keeping track of some of my activities on fitday too.
Anyone else use fitday?
Patty

has anyone else had this PROBLEM? any advice welcomed..

2008-04-08 07:52:52

Ok, i am now 2 months and 11 days out. I eat during the day, but i
have noticed the last couple of days it is like i stay hungry, or at
least i feel hungry. for instance today i had a protein shake for
breakfast, then a little later i ate a string cheese with crakers,
now im eating on a baked potato... I stop when i feel full, but then
it seems lie in a few minutes im hungry again.. any one else
experience this, and if so what did you do and did what you did work?

Re: [Gastric_Bypass_Family] PATIENCE...TODAY NONE

2008-04-08 05:13:31

Patience really can be the best thing Fran, at least for peace of mind.
That wasn't my method though :). I would basically give people
(doctors, nurses, etc.) 3 days and would call back to check the status.
I would also email everyone I had an email address for (mainly my GP)
so that it was right there in his face that I needed a letter now, not
when he got around to it. He thanks me now for my perseverance, even if
he didn't appreciate it too much then :).

PATIENCE...TODAY NONE

2008-04-07 17:55:41

Hi everyone,
I started my process for WLS on July 29, 2004, I realize that is not
long ago but today I have one nerve left and my PCP and orthopedist
are all over it.
In July I immediately wrote them letters of what was needed for
insurance approval for surgery. I called them to follow-up to see
if they had any further requests from me and reminded them how
important this surgery is as they had verbally suggested it in the
past and my weight is killing me. I waited until this week, 8/31/04
and phoned them again because my surgeon has not received the
letters from either of them yet. My answer from one of the nurses
was, "oh yes, I see your letters with information you sent, it's in
your file, but no I don't see any letter that was writen by Dr.
yet". I remained very calm and nice and asked if there was a
problem. I was then told "oh it probably was put in your file and
not brought to Dr.'s attention. She then promised to do so. The
other Dr., my PCP's nurse said she would again bring it to Dr.'s
attention as he has been on vacation. I respect both of these
doctor's and they both have been very professional and their
treatment of my needs has been superb, but I am not particulary
happy at this time. I realize that I am not their only patient but
I guess I am just very anxious at this time and I want this surgery
ASAP because of severe health problems.
Thanks for letting me vent. I have stopped to say a prayer to
restore my patience and that I can see that this will be in God's
time not Fran's time. It is still hard though.
Any suggestions? I rely on my WL family and your experience,
strength and hope.
One last comment, everyone in the path of hurricane Frances, youn
are in my thoughts and prayers...please take good care.
Fran

Good morning Linda,
My Tim has boycotted me this morning after my blood sugar was down to 59!!!
He wanted me to drink a glass of orange juice, but I think it'll kill the
protein train and it was so hard yesterday with him eating chilli and so...
Well, I'm still alive. lol
The Hurricane has slowed down to 120 mph - maybe everybody gets lucky??
I sure hope and wish so....

Tricia,
I'll be sure to give you a "play by play" of how the surgery
goes.;0) I'll keep my fingers crossed that your insurance is
approved just as quickly or just approved! Well I am going to take
a short nap before going for my pre-op testing. Chat later!

Thanks Tricia,
I am off for pre-op testing and my last visit to the surgeon before

visiting Monday/Tuesday sometime! I am excited that we now have at
least 3 Bama gals on here too. Have a good weekend!

a new me.--Tricia in AL/Linda./reply

2008-04-06 14:04:43

Hi Linda, I do have Blue Cross BLue Shield, that would be so wonderful if it
didn't take any longer than that. I probably will be nervous too by the time
gets there for the actual surgery. I'm going to go buy the new walking shoes
this weekend and start walking, walking is very painful for me with the
fibromyalgia but since I hurt no matter what I do I'm going to start now before
the surgery so it won' t be so hard right after the surgery. I will be having
mine in B/Ham. it will be the lap. procedure so I'm hoping that will make things
easier for me.
Don't overdo right before the surgery might make it a little more sore on u if u
do.
Hugs, Tricia
Linda Lou <iamllu@...
Hey Tricia,
I am pre-op and my date is Sept. 7th here in Anniston. I'am going
through all the emotions now but I will survive them.;-))) If you
have B/C B/S of AL it seems they go alot faster if your surgeon
submits all the paperwork needed to get approved. I had mine
approved within 3 weeks at the latest. You already have much in
place too with your other doctors. Wish you the best outcome and
the quickest approval. I lack patience to I know what you saying.
Anniston is doing pretty good for now and those "Alabama" guys just
stick to their neck of the woods in Ft. Payne. We went on
that "Worlds Longest Yardsale" 3rd year for me and drove by their
recording studio and probably their houses too! Beautiful places
around there.
Talk with you soon!
Hugs, Linda in AL.

Bama Girl/3 Bama Gals

Wow 3 Bama gals from close to the same area, I live in the Shoals area Rhonda,
Linda and I have talked before but I don't think I have met u. I don't get to
post a lot but try to scan some of the posts there are so many I can't keep up.
I haven't been approved by Insurance yet but not really expecting any problems
since I have high b/p, diabetes and sleep apnea plus a slew of other stuff. I
will be praying for u Linda, Keep us posted.
Hugs, Tricia in AL
Linda Lou <iamllu@...
Ronda,
I am right behind ya...now 44 yrs old!!! I was working with an Ins.
group and we made frequent trips up towards Huntsville so I am
familiar with the area. Yes I am in Anniston and have been here for
almost 3 yrs from San Antonio. Met my husband and he swept me away
to live here.;-) But we hope to relocate after his kids graduate
high school to the Rockies!!! Somewhere where the air is cleaner
and the...oh yeah that is a song isn't it??? Yes surgery is on the
7th and I hope to only be there and out as quick as possible. The
house will fall down around the poison ivy, that ivy crap with the
bigggg leaves and any other varmit/plant if I don't bounce back
quickly. Husband doesn't like yardwork yet he bought his 2+ acre
place...LOL!!! If familiar with our area, we are off the hills of
Ft. McClellan. I have a fiesty coyote who ventures through here
often, beautiful deer, frisky bunnies...sorry I was day dreaming
again...LOL!!!
I pray you will have a wonderful vacation while your gone and to see
that sweet granddaughter will be the highlight of your trip I am
sure. They grow so quickly too! Nope I don't have any yet just
dreaming again. My son is in the Navy, 21 and single plus getting
ready to depart to Japan in March.
I can relate to all of your plans for the future cause I also have
similiar one's! But you forgot the front car of the rollercoaster!
Gosh I have been on so many with my son but would like to do it with
room to slide! Riding a horse again is another one of mine!
Are you on the OH board here in AL? I go there often and they are
so helpful plus they talk about your Doctor at times. Oh good
stuff! If your not there you need to come and visit also! But I
have to admit this is such a fantastic message board that I plop
down often to read and answer stuff as much as possible. Husband
feels neglected at time's but I just tell him to nap!
Have a great trip!

Dora,
I know what a coon hound is ... but I describe them as the one on
the Beverly Hillbillies. Don wanted one we found online for $150
but we have no fenced in area's yet just a kennel and I just
couldn't see placing him in that. Buddy's inside pet and way bigger
than the 45 lbs we were told but so protective also and lovable. I
hate hearing of the abuse these animals and kids for that matter are
dealt in their young and sometimes short lives. I am glad you found
such a protective and loving dog. I am sure Minnie loves you more
than she can show you also.
Hugs,

buy the big things of sugar free ice cream but I wanted the pops.
Have to put the ice chest in the car if I go further to find them
and then... buy them all up!

See that's funny too, because we had our honeymoon last year in March
on a cruise when my aunt was married. We were married the first time in
Vegas in the chapel at the MGM Grand and it was wonderful, we probably
won't do it quite that big the next time, but it will be even better
because I'll be thin, like I'd always told myself I would be when I
finally got married :). Our cruise in November will be great, even at
the weight I've lost so far. When were you married Kristy?

I agree. My dog ran away right before the 4th of July. I searched and
searched for her. I finally found her at the pound after she had been
if there the entire long weekend. I had to pay a $70 fine to get her
back. If she does it again it keeps going up. I told my husband that
we can afford for her to run 2 more times and then we won't be able to
bail her out. I think it is wrong that if you are a responsible pet
owner (she is spade, has her shots and lives better than her owners do
and has a fenced yard to run in all day) you might not be able to
reclaim your family pet because it costs too much. Just my opinion.

not. But we have been so good to her and she absolutely loves us.
Especially me for some reason. She is huge, at least for me. She
weight 66 pounds and if you don't know what a black and tan coon hound
looks like, her body looks just like a fat doberman with a long curled
tail and her head had long droopy ears. But the best thing, is that I
found out the other night that she would be very protective of me. My
husband came home from work at 11:30. He was wearing all black which he
never does except for work and Minnie (the coon hound) did not recognize
him. We were standing in the front room inside the screen door. She
was furious and was trying her hardest to get out after him. I really
think that if she had not recognized who he was she would have attacked
him if he tried to get into my house. I like knowing that she is there
